About PMATT

Representing Trinidad and Tobago's pest management professionals since 2007.

How PMATT Began

The Pest Management Association of Trinidad and Tobago (PMATT) is a non-profit organisation that was formed and registered in 2007. PMATT works alongside stakeholders to encourage the safe use and application of pesticides and other non-chemical treatment methods by pest management service providers and professionals. In 1998 the pest management industry received a set of draft regulations for Pest Control Operators from the Pesticides and Toxic Chemicals Control Board. Like others in the public and private sectors, the Board wanted to discuss the industry's issues with a representative organisation rather than with individuals or individual companies. Because no such body existed, a handful of pest management service providers joined forces to meet the challenge. The Pest Management Association of Trinidad and Tobago (PMATT) was formed and registered as a non-profit organisation in 2007.

Our Vision and Mission

Vision statement: We see an industry transformed, where consumers and the wider public can count on a safe and healthy environment thanks to the safe use and application of pesticides and other non-chemical treatment methods by trained and certified pest management professionals. Mission statement: Our mission is to foster collaboration among pest management service providers and professionals and to uphold the highest levels of business ethics, professionalism and best-practice industry standards through education and training, for the benefit of consumers and the environment.

Why the Association Matters

There is a need for a body that represents the industry's collective interests to regulatory agencies, clients and the general public. Together, members pursue common approaches to respond effectively to issues of service delivery standards, training, certification, service agreements, warranties, tenders and quotations. An unbiased representative body is also needed to inform consumers about the minimum acceptable standards and best practices of the industry.

Our Strategic Goal

To unite all pest management service providers and professionals, including large and small companies, individual operators and service technicians. To offer a platform where every member can express their opinions and where those opinions are heard and considered. To serve as the official representative of members on matters relating to regulation, legislation and government authorities. To promote members' aims and objectives to all relevant bodies. To develop and recommend policies that reinforce and maintain best practices for our industry.
