Our Advocacy Agenda

What Our Agenda Covers

We represent our members on issues of vendor compliance and stewardship. We lobby the financial services sector and the Town and Country Planning Division to make inspections for Wood Destroying Organisms (and the required treatments) mandatory for the construction, change of ownership or insuring of all buildings. We seek to incorporate the Pest Management Association of Trinidad and Tobago by an Act of Parliament, giving it superior legal status as the recognized advocate for the Pest Management services industry. We press the appropriate authorities to end the existing monopolistic and discriminatory unfair trade constraints on the importation of pesticides. We urge legislators to enact laws making it illegal for products labeled as pesticides to be sold or transferred to anyone other than a certified Pest Management Professional. We work to implement consumer protection legislation tailored specifically to the needs of customers of the Pest Management services industry. We influence the Government to enact regulations making it compulsory for certain types of businesses to have pest management service at fixed intervals from certified Pest Management Professionals. We petition the authorities to make the registration of non-proprietary pesticide formulations a public good, not owned by any particular firm.
